A litre of petrol is useless but if we put it in a car we transfer the energy in to heat, light, movement and sound.   What is a Fossil fuel?Text Box: A fossil fuel is a source of potential energy, which has been around for millions of years. Coal is old trees that fell down millions of years ago when England was mainly swamp land, the trees got covered by soil and rock, so they were staved of oxygen because of this they didn’t rot, but were compressed until they finally turned into coal.
